Symptoms of Hormone Imbalance in Women

The amounts of these hormones that the woman's body produces from month to month can vary, depending on factors such as stress, nutrition, exercise and most importantly -- ovulation or the lack of ovulation.

In the first 10-12 days of the menstrual cycle, only estrogen is produced in the female body. If ovulation occurs, then progesterone is produced by the ovaries. On day 28 or so, levels of both hormones drop, resulting in menstruation. However, if ovulation did not occur, you can still have the menstrual period, but the estrogen is never "balanced" by progesterone, which needed ovulation to trigger its production. And this results in symptoms of hormone imbalance appearing -- you have estrogen but progesterone production drops to very low levels.

In the industrialized countries, women take birth control pills, are exposed to household chemicals at home, car exhaust and other environmental xenoestrogens. In addition, women often have stressful lives, eat processed foods or skip meals, take synthetic estrogen HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and have hysterectomies. All these factors can add more estrogen to the female body, resulting in excess estrogen which will cause hormone imbalance symptoms.

The Science Of Mind Over Matter

We possess an incredible power. It's the power of mind to heal or attract that which we focus our attention on.

You have most likely seen it at work in many people. You probably know those (or perhaps you are even one) who constantly talk about their aches, pains and illnesses. They seem to always be sick.

Sometimes we may wonder if they are making it up just to get attention. But they are not making it up. They do feel that they are sick. Now it's time to practice the positive. The greatest power of all is that if you don't like your thoughts, if they are not working to make you a healthier, happier person, then you have the power to change them.

An exciting awakening is taking place all over the world about the role these powers have in healing, self development, and success. Even science is taking note of this wonderful power. It all comes down to quantum physics, a branch of science that describes the nature of the universe as being very different than the world we can see. It is a study of the building blocks of the universe.

Quantum physics can be rather complicated so I won't get into it in detail. I have been reading a lot about it and the following will give you an overview of what it's about. If you have even the basic understanding of quantum physics, you will see clearly how faith and positive thinking actually work.

Your body is made of cells, which are made of molecules, which are made of atoms, which are made of sub-atomic particles. Everything is made of large groups of sub-atomic particles, your body, trees, planets, light, your car, your home, even your thoughts, etc.

Sub-atomic particles are not actually particles, they are energy packets sometimes called "quanta". They are pure energy and they are also "probabilities of existence". It is these energy packets that are at our command.

Everything in the universe is made of these energy packets. Therefore, everything in the universe is energy that exists as waves over space and time. So nothing is really solid. It only appears solid when large groups of sub-atomic particles come together to make atomic particles.

Quantum physics has discovered that it is the act of observing an object that causes it to be there. These energy waves only become particles when they are observed. Withdraw observation and they become waves again. Therefore, it is your observation, attention and intention to something that causes it to come into your experience or reality. Nothing is real, until we make it real by giving it our attention.

This is the scientific basics on how faith and positive thinking works. We don't really need to understand how it works, just know that it does. But if you feel you need more scientific facts to help you believe, you can do a search on quantum physics and learn more. It is a fascinating subject.

Energy healers know how to manipulate this energy to heal a body. They use their energy, as well as visualization and their intention to heal, to work with their client's energy to remove the blockages and help the body to heal itself. When I walked into our TV room the other night, my wife Karla was watching The Big Idea hosted by Donny Deutsch who was interviewing Rachael Ray.

Toward the end of the interview Donny began probing deeper as to the underlying principles and keys to Rachael's climb to success. I particularly noticed and heard the following:

1. Rachael employs powerful and intelligent people, such as her agent to generate publicity for her.

Undoubtedly to make it in television you need to be well connected and must create a buzz. Rachael mastered the media and conquered her fear of TV. Rachael told Donny that she felt like she was going to throw up the night before going on TV with Diane Sawyer. After being with Diane, Rachael says her fear was unfounded as Diane is a warm, caring, and fun person to be with.

Many of our fears are untrue and hinder us from maximizing our potential. Therefore boldly face your fears and live your dreams!

2. Rachael says "Do something you love."

Doing what you love sounds simplistic and nice, but in reality when most of us are trying to survive financially it isn't quite as easy. Nevertheless for those who dare to take risks and go for it, the rewards are worth it! If you don't take chances you won't make advances.

3. Rachael told Donny, "You've got to work hard. Many people say they work hard, but just complain a lot."

Surely this is true as I know some complainers in my own life. Work is a four letter word, but it should not be considered a curse word. People need to again value the importance of diligence, persistence, and hard work. To make it big you need to work hard and passionately invest yourself in something.

4. Be yourself and let your personality shine.

In a Slate article defending Ray, Jill Hunter Pellettieri summarized some of these criticisms by writing:

Ray's ditzy demeanor also makes her easy to dismiss. She giggles off-cue and constantly praises her own cooking. "Smells awesome already!" she says, making her Snapper in a Snap. "I am so psyched about that." She employs cute abbreviationsEVOO means "extra virgin olive oil", and gives her dishes nicknames, such as "You-Won't-Be-Single-for-Long Vodka Cream Pasta".

The bottom line however is Rachael is way more entertaining than Martha Stewart, who without guests in my opinion is not able to keep you awake unless you are a cooking enthusiast.

5. Passion trumps professional training and education.

Some have criticized Ray's "perky" demeanor as well as her lack of a formal chef's education and perceived lack of seriousness about cooking. Celebrity chef and Travel Channel personality Anthony Bourdain, who graduated from the Culinary Institute of America, has referred to her as a "bobblehead".

Rachael appeals to all types of people and like President Bush who may not be the brightest guy on the planet, is nevertheless relatable and real. Passion is attractive and has a magnetic pull to it. Undoubtedly Ray has mastered impregnating people with her passion.

Keeping it Structured - 3 Steps to a Better Presentation Structure

How many times have you asked yourself during a presentation "wait a minute, how did we get here"? That question is the result of feeling lost in the presentation and not necessarily because you were dozing off. A well thought out presentation structure will help your keep you listeners on track and make your presentation much stronger.

One of the inherent problems with a slide-based presentation program like MS PowerPoint is that takes you visually from one picture to another. So there is often times a break between the various pieces of content. It's easy therefore for inexperienced users (and even some old pros) to concentrate too much on the content of the individual slides and to give less thought to slide order and transition.

A good presentation is a logical progression of ideas that should build up to an ultimate statement, question or call to action. If you are not building good arguments step-by-step you will lose the listener and you will be less effective in your presentation.

So, how do we give our presentation a good structure, you would be correct in asking. Here are three things that I have learned and used successfully over the past few years in my consulting career. I hope that you consider them and that they will be equally successful in your presentations:

1) Ensure that you are using a uniform slide design template for your presentation. Most companies have proprietary PowerPoint template designs, a so-called CI (Corporate Identity), but if your company does not or if you are a student, it is fairly simple to make one (I have tutorial about this coming soon). In either case, company CI or self-created template, use it! This will surprisingly help keep your listeners on track.

2) Always include a "goals" or "target" slide at the beginning of your presentation. This will tell you listeners immediately what your are hoping to achieve with the presentation (not dissimilar to writing a good paper) and helps keep you honest and on track when doing the final checks of your presentation.

3) Separate main points with an agenda point slide. If your presentation is longer than 10 slides, I would encourage you to separate your main sections or chapters with a slide that introduces the fact that you are moving onto another section. It can be simply a blank slide with the name or purpose of the next section on it.

If you use these three tips in your presentation you are bound to have made an improvement. Remember, providing a good structure to your presentations will help you better make your point.
